“Ferran Fages: Acoustic guitar. Dimitra Lazaridou-Chatzigoga: zither. ap’strophe is the duo of Ferran Fages and Dimitra Lazaridou Chatzigoga. They began working together in 2006, when Ferran Fages recorded “Cançons per a un lent retard”, where Dimitra Lazaridou Chatzigoga collaborated in the track Paraula clau, which they composed and interpreted together. After recording the album they realized the impossibility of re-interpreting this piece, which is based on the detuning(s) of the guitar, but they decided to continue working together and started to search for a common sonoric space. The result of this survey gave shape to their present collaboration, which consists of a duo of acoustic guitar and zither. With their music they investigate the perception of the distinctive timbre of the guitar and the zither alongside the differences and similarities of their string instruments. Their approximation combines the acoustic with the electronic in the sense that they employ frequencies produced by their acoustic notes together with sounds produced by electronic means. Their first album ‘objects sense objectes’ has been released in Etude Records in May 2009”. “Barcelona-based Ferran Fages is known both for his lyrical acoustic guitar playing (on solo discs such as Cancons a per un Lent Retard and Al Voltant d’un Para/’lel) and for hard-edged electronics (with groups such as Cremaster and Octante). His work in ap’strophe is an intriguing combination of these two sides of his music: there is plenty of resonant acoustic playing, but this is set against both the zither of Athens-based Dimitra Lazaridou Chatzigoga, and both players’ sometimes harsh electronic extensions of their instruments’ timbres.”

This release comes with a DVDR containing mp3 files (3.22 GB, 14 files with a total duration of 39 hours, 56 minutes, 14 seconds). These are exactly the same fils as the ones recorded with the recorder Zoom H2. No mastering or editing has been done. “A group of diverse people calls a meeting, setting a place and a time. They meet. Each one brings the things they think are necessary. The “opening-up” to action is big. They disuss and reach agreements. They have to manage that shared time in the search for freedom. They select a place, make it theirs, precariously theirs. What is the potential of that meeting, of that time lived in common? They have to make decisions and try to create a collective space, not exempt from disapprovals. Apart from the physical space they might find (that could not be found), first there is a social space that has to be built up to very basic levels. Many of the problems come directly from that. How long can they endure? What will they be able to do? How much of the potential of the action lies in their own capacity for meeting together and dealing with uncertainty? What would be left if they didn’t do anything except be in an abnormal situation? How many different situations can the general situation contain? What is it that will give the right levels of intensity?”
Peter Kolovos : guitar. Andrew Maxwell: drumkit. Doug Russell: guitar. Released November 2003. "A gorgeous record of free sound: Through three unsettled pieces, Open City breaks down the formalism of the avant garde, noise and free improvisation to reveal one of today’s most distinctive and intense group dynamics. The group use a constant flow of deep drone, pointilistic cut ups, rich texture and silence to create Alpha music. Unrepeatable and unpredictable, aggressively abstract, time-stamped, adaptive, actionist, attentionist, fun. An organic assembly language in an open field, avoiding the trance and repetition of idiomatic pop for sound statement and direct coinage. Open City aims for a moment before music, the unsettled pause before a devastating blow. The Birth of Cruel is a generational X-flare, a sound proposition, a coronal mass ejection of propulsive and audible means. Enjoy!

Julie Tippetts : voice, Sri Lankan hand drums, bells, singing bowls, water bowls, thumb piano, seed pod shaker, Balinese mini xylophone, struck hand drum.
Mark Wastell : tam tam, cracked ride cymbal, shruti box, chimes, hand drum, Indian temple bells, singing bowls.
Recorded live at Cafe OTO by James Dunn on Tuesday 17th of January 2017. Mixed by James Dunn. Mastered by Phil Julian.
Strikingly sparse and meditative percussive duo from esteemed vocalist Julie Tippetts and Mark Wastell. Both equipped with a wealth of percussion but perfectly restrained, the pair are near-still, bright and clear at first, until the surface of their glistening sound begins to prickle and rush with an unseen current. Tippett's voice effortlessly matches the bellows of the Wastell’s shruti box, and its gentle drone highlights her natural vocal warmth. Intimate, explorative and intuitive, each note struck or sung is turned over gently, explored, and put back down to rest - like a rare find in a rock pool.

Here be the final drone / hypnogogic statement from Taiga Remains. The man behind Taiga Remains has now shelved this moniker; but he's far from hanging up his hat, as he now works under his given name Alex Cobb - also known as the philosopher king who benevolently reigns over his Students Of Decay. There are those at the Agency who can claim to speak with the poetics of corrosion, and we have long admired the sympathetic aesthetic in Cobb's gorgeously elegant compositions for guitar, bells, tape hiss, and whatnot. A sadness of things hangs in the air for Cobb's suspended mantras as these pieces evolve through a state of perpetual (un)becoming. For Cobb, the decaying sound is a steady dissolution of one chromatically rippling pattern into another which in turn diffuses into another and the cycle continues; but for every slippery note that pools into watery aquifers, Cobb distances himself from discursive and didactic languages that affix specific meanings onto work. He prefers a mystery and an ambiguousness to hang upon his crepuscular minimalism where the audience can entertain guided excursions of subjective thought. For us, these radiant guitar drones flecked with impressionist melodies bath in the snow of a thousand radios placed throughout Easter Island offering forth their eerie, luminous and beautiful sound that floats amongst those stoic heads that gaze beyond the horizon of the pacific ocean towards infinity, or oblivion if you prefer a more sublime reading. As the title to the album states, this album originally published in small cassette editions, long out of print. The material has been gloriously mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin.
Those with an ear for Andrew Chalk, William Basinski and those long-form passages from Natural Snow Buildings will find much to celebrate in Taiga Remains.
Over more than a decade Peter Kolovos has created an incredibly physical and dynamic musical language using the electric guitar. He plays music that unpredictably flows from electrified fragments of sound which fold and expand in dense layers and massive tones that surge and collapse in rapid succession. His approach has been called “massively a-formal” and his control of timing and texture “masterful.” Rather than set harmonic or rhythmic structures, he draws form from open sequences of sound events merged and propelled by a distinct internal logic. In his music Kolovos attempts to erase the line between intent and impulse and to create sounds that are immediate and unrepeatable. Black Colors is the fullest realization of Kolovos’s music to date. Over six sides of vinyl the album presents a vast world of intricate sound-at times dense and teeming with saturated bursts and drones and at others sparse with minute ticks and quiet tones that reverberate in open space. Without a preset listening sequence, the album is intended to be a shifting, prismatic work-with sides that can be arranged in hundreds of different sequences, each yielding a distinct sound experience. The music on Black Colors is coupled with Zoe Crosher’s artwork. Eight photographs from her "L.A. Black Like" series present views from the black spaces and shadows of Los Angeles where light and color only pierce the darkness in filtered and obscured glimpses of the outside world. Beyond being created in the same time and place, Crosher’s images and Kolovos’s music share a deeper consonance. Deluxe Packaging: 3 x 180 gram high-quality vinyl pressed at Pallas Germany. Mastered at 45 RPM for volume, dynamics, and clarity by Rashad Becker at D&M Berlin. Full-color, heavy tip-on slipcase with three full-color sleeves. Digital download included.
“blip - Mike Majkowski - double bass, pitch pipes, objects. Jim Denley - alto sax, flutes. We recorded this disc one afternoon, set up the mics, checked the levels and the music is pretty much as we played it - not much editing went on afterwards. Having said that, we’d been trying to make a CD together for a number of years (we think this is the 5th or 6th attempt). All through that process we kept listening, editing, mastering and then trying again - in the words of Samuel Beckett - “Try again. Fail again. Fail better”. Recording became our process of review and we’d like to think that through this process, we were ultimately able to make something spontaneous and composed. blip.” label info

“Recorded earlier this year at the Finders Art Space in Kuala Lumpur, home base of Goh Lee Kwang and his Herbal International empire. The cover doesn’t mention what kind of instruments were used here, but me thinks there is Goh Lee Kwang’s turntable and no-input mixer and Blechmann’s lptop and software (free from the internet and/or self-built), but all of this is based upon earlier works by both. The recording lasts thirty-six minutes and while I like what I hear, I am not sure if it justifies to be released as a CD; Goh Lee Kwang also has a CDR division for more impromptus live recordings, called Theme Park. But something must have been captivating enough to put it on CD. There is a busy drone here, I assume from laptop and sound effects, along with the likewise busy manipulation of the stylus, feeding into a DJ mixer and maybe more effects. It’s intense music, with a mildly distorted edge to it, but it’s never loud, noisy or truly distorted, although I can imagine that in this Finders Art Space it might have sounded all quite loud and oppressive. It's solid, it's consistent, it's improvised (including flaws that may bring) and, as said, it's quite nice. Play loud for an optimum result”. (Vital, Frans De Waard)
Reinhold Friedl, inside-piano, prepared piano, piano. Hannes Strobl, electric bass guitar, electric upright bass, electronics. Hayden Chisholm, alto saxophone. Composed and produced by Hannes Strobl and Reinhold Friedl, Berlin 2008 - 2013. P.O.P. (Psychology of Perception) Which sounds are similar to each other, which different, which repeated, which varied, which altered? Instrumentally played repetitions, digital repetitions in the effect path of the electric bass, repetitions in another position of the stereo panorama. Circular breathing repetitions of the saxophone, the repetitions inside the noise of air hissing. The same piano sound in different dynamics, differently prepared, the same prepared sound with different pitches, the same bass tone bowed shortly or longer, differently prepared, with different electronic treatment. Multiplication of perspectives: multi-phonics, multi-sounds, multinoises, multi-singing, circling. Perception of velocity: stoppage because of slowly sinking tones, unhurried swinging and swaying, tempo inside the vibrating tone of the saxophone, franticness through high sounds. The part of the listener decoding the acoustic cryptogram- psychology of perception. Music focussing on it’s own temporality. The impression of the depth of sound and auditory spaciousness, the flexibility of the electric bass, moving in the stereo panorama, in front of widely expanded inside-piano sounds, keyboard tones dabbed in the foreground, the unreal of the transparent sound of the saxophone tone, which seems to come from the background directly towards the listener. The equivocation of the third dimension. Slowly mutating patterns, that appear as musical bodies: sensual, three-dimensional, organic as connected elements. Similar elements, repetition and variation. Play and transformation. The limits of the similarity. differenciality. So the ears are focused on the time as the act of becoming itself being observed. Forgetting the time aspect, repetition and variation become identity and difference. Patterns of similarity. Varied sound colours. Rhythmical turning and lyre modules, asymmetric panning, tapestry and woven carpet…

Nick Mott, previously known mostly for his work in and as a founding member of the eclectic group, Volcano The Bear, has since his departure been forging a path very much his own as, largely, a solo artist.
A couple of other projects aside, namely Skeleton Birds & the Number of God and Spectral Armies, his work under his own name commenced in 2011 via a one-sided 7”/art package also released on Lumberton Trading Company. Limited to 100 copies and featuring a print of his own incredible and unique fine art, this sold out very quickly and set the course for a second edition and, indeed, in 2012, an LP, The Visitors, on Alt Vinyl.
Similar to his drawings or art experiments with photocopied collages, his music beams in from some kind of distorted or fractured reality more focussed on those murkier twilight places the likes of H.P. Lovecraft cast their imaginations into. As the ten pieces on Here Begins the Great Destroyer pay witness to, a world of unfolding electronic textures, uneasy tones, rhythmic bursts and general sense of things not being quite as they seem serve as Nick’s main preoccupations. However, this is no daft ‘dark ambient’ muck. Rather, like certain other artists on LTCo, it uncomfortably resides in a space where the likes of Ranaldo & the Loaf, Tuxedo Moon, Nurse With Wound and Andrew Liles each all crawled from. A space, essentially, few others would dare, or wish, to venture to in the first instance. Of course, there is a crooked humour evident, too, as no artist can truly traverse such places without it. Well, at least not if they want to keep their sanity more or less functioning…
Here Begins the Great Destroyer is the first step towards what will, in due course, become a deluxe box set also containing an art booklet and vinyl by Nick Mott. The idea being that this release will not only promote it but can be added to the box set once ready by those interested in ordering it. More info is on the website.
In the meantime, this album exists in its own right via this digipak CD, which is limited to 300 and will not be reprinted.
Mastered, as often the case for a LTCo release, by Sion Orgon (known equally as a solo artist and working affiliate of Thighpaulsandra and the now unfortunately and tragically defunct Coil, amongst others), Here Begins the Great Destroyer is an album for those amongst us who command a more challenging listening experience.
For many years now there is a strong connection between the three members of Kapotte Muziek - Frans de Waard, Roel Meelkop & Peter Duimelinks - and Rotterdam based visual artist Ben Schot. The first time they worked together was when Schot asked Kapotte Muziek to perform at a festival about Detroit, MC5, etc festival in 1998 (released on ‘Praag/Rotterdam’ CD by Kapotte Muziek) and since then there have been various collaborations and constellations. This CD, while technically a compilation, collects four of these pieces.
- As Wieman De Waard and Meelkop provided the musical backing for a performance by Schot as an introduction for a screening of Jodorowski’s film ‘El Topo’, which takes the musical score into the land of plunderphonics, noise, improv and techno (2010-2012)
- Kapotte Muziek performed a rare laptop concert when Ben Schot received the Pendrecht Cultuur Prize in 2003.
- The Whi was a quartet of Meelkop, De Waard, Ben Schot and his daughter Puck Schot playing the game ‘Rockband Wii’, on real amplifiers and computer distortion, much the hilarious reaction of the audience - as can be heard here.
- With DMDN (Jacques van Bussel), Duimelinks, De Waard and Meelkop played a final concert (?) as Death Pact in 1999, probably the loudest concerts they ever performed as part of a programme called ‘Withdrawel’. 250 copies.
This is a long CD, clocking in at just under 80 minutes and contains a rare example of the more noisy works of these artists. It comes in a retro vinyl gatefold sleeve and is co-released with Ben Schot’s own publishing house Sea Urchin.
“Composed-played by Jose Luis Redondo (dobro, a.c baritone guitar, bizarre piccolo bass, electric guitar and banjo). Recorded live -no overdubs- in Hoto Tama Records Studio (Aug-Oct. 2007). Produced by Jode Luis Redondo. Etude Records is proud to present the first release statement of this unexpected and amazing guitar-composer-musician call Jose Luis Redondo. His first release for Etude Records “La reponse est aux pieds” (Etude017) is an astonishing 11 tracks suite with some of the most adventurous guitar pieces. Using a whole range of string instruments (Dobro, banjo, electric guitar, piccolo bass, etc…), Jose Luis develops an amazing and unique personal world of sounds, techniques and compositions. Beautiful, bizarre, strange and lovely ! Jose Luis Redondo is a well know musician from Barcelona whose work has appear in tons of different session recordings with local groups, from the Jazz-space-cabaret records of Le Diablo Mariachi, the traditional irish-funk music of Camalics, to the Gallegan-experimental work of Keympa. His solos shows at some squads are also remembered.”
“This album is dedicated to my family, friends, and the spirit of the summer night sky. Electric and acoustic guitar, vocals, and guitar-synthesizer recorded digitally between June 2010 and July 2011 in Westlake, Ohio and Portland, Oregon. Mixed at Hardbodies, July 2011 by Mark McGuire. Mastered and cut by Helmut Erler @ Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Photography and Art by Mark McGuire 2011. Layout by Julian Gulyas. And yet another killer album from the ever productive Mark McGuire. It just keeps getring better, as he delivers another fine set of tunes in his perfected style. A few more electronic elements than usual and even some voices, but still the unique blend feell good riffs, electric and acoustic loops and melodies that just stick in the head. Its game of 2 sides of course, with side one chocabloc a short hits with side two stretcning to one side long jam of blissed out McGuire ambience. Awesome.”
Sult is an acoustic noise ensemble with members from Oslo and the Bay Area. Their music reflects the noise genre’s concern with layers of sonic texture, though completely performed on acoustic instruments. Individual sounds run precariously aside one another as independent streams, and alternately blur into a unified mass.

“Korm Plastics is proud to present the thirteenth release in the Brombron series. Originally a co-production between Staalplaat and Extrapool, it is now hosted by co-curator Frans de Waard. In the year 2000 Frans de Waard and Extrapool started the Brombron project. Two or more musicians become artists in residence in Extrapool, an arts initiative in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, with a fully equipped sound recording studio. These artists can work in a certain amount of time on a collaborative project; a project they always wished to do, but didn’t have the time or the equipment to realize. Jon Mueller and Martijn Tellinga have started a collaboration to explore the musical dialogue between the instrumentalist and realtime computer-performer. Their mutual interest in the outlining and structuring of improvisation, both in sonic properties and compositional shape, resulted in an ensembled playing that is partly responsive, partly autonomous. During their residency at the Extrapool studio in Nijmegen, Netherlands december 2005. During this residency they experimented with a system that consisted of live-sampling and processing of Jon’s playing, on top of a layer of pre-recorded soundmaterials taken from a previous session. Crucial to this system, was that the actual triggering of the samples and processing in the computer during performance was also caused by that same playing; i.e., while Jon was improvising he not only provided new sonic material for recording, but also triggered previously recorded events. The realtime manipulation and transformation of these events was done by Martijn following that same structural order. This experimental system was developed to get to a musical body that can either blend into one (percussion and computer) or exist as two entities that function in an autonomous way (bypassing the triggering and playing the computer as a stand-alone instrument, using the same set of soundmaterials) and perform by listening and responding to each others input. This can be seen as an attempt to get beyond the many electro-instrumental collaborations where the computer-performer seems to function as a huge effect-processor of the instrumental input, and by doing that, reduces the instrumentalist to a soundsource for realtime processing.”
“CD only - 200 copies. It has been quiet for Flim, also known as Enrico Wuttke, since his last release ’Pola Music’ and ’Ohne Titel, 1916’ (the latter being his second release on Plinkity Plonk). However he still works as a designer, and creates music for dance companies and short films, as well as enjoying family life. His new release is a 28 minute EP with four pieces he created for a dance piece ’Refugium’, based on the novel ’The Wall’ by Marlen Haushofer. Originally published in German in 1962 and touted more recently as a feminist’s Robinson Crusoe, this somber classic from prize-winner Haushofer chronicles the experiences of a (nameless) woman cut off from her familiar city ways in a remote hunting lodge, after Armageddon has snuffed out all life in the world beyond. With the woman’s diary of activities during the first two years of isolation as foundation, the story assumes the shape and flavor of a journal. Saved from instant death by a transparent, apparently indestructible wall enclosing a substantial area of forest and alpine meadow, the woman finds relief from her isolation in companionship offered by a dog, a cat, kittens, and a cow and her calf, making them into a family that she cares for faithfully and frets over incessantly with each season’s new challenges. Crops of potatoes, beans, and hay are harvested in sufficient quantity to keep all alive, with deer providing occasional meat for the table, but the satisfaction of having survived long winters and a halcyon summer is undone by a second sudden and equally devastating catastrophe, which triggers the need in her to tell her story. Although heavy with the repetition of daily chores, the account is also intensely introspective, probing as deeply into the psyche of the woman as it does into her world, which circumstances have placed in a new light. Subtly surreal, by turns claustrophobic and exhilarating, fixated with almost religious fervor on banal detail, this is a disturbing yet rewarding tale in which survival and femininity are strikingly merged.” label info
Korm Plastics is proud to present the twenty-fourth release in the Brombron series (missing numbers will follow later this year). Here we have Jan Anderzen from Finland, who works as Tomutonttu and is the leader of Kemialliset Ystavat. A true artist when it comes to cut, copy, paste and collage with sound (as well as images), cooking up a wonderfully naïve pastiche of sound. Sam Hamilton is surely the odd ball out in the world of New Zealand’s experimental music. He likes punk, opera, techno and pop and collates them all together in his own unique blend of pop music. Here’s two men who share a strong love of the wicked pop tunes and their twelve pieces are short and to the point. A classic pop record length release, with likewise classic tunes. Design by Sam Hamilton. 300 copies.
Clay Rendering is a new band born of Aries couple Mike (Wolf Eyes, Hair Police, Failing Lights) and Tara Connelly (the Haunting and The Pool at Metz). The two began work on the project in the fall of 2012, dedicated to resurrection, (much like their sun signs) with a focus on arcane structures. Droning and melancholic guitars are propelled by the skeletal remains of industrial music. Low light vocals weave in and out of the stark atmosphere. Electronics mix with acoustics, vocals and guitar to create songs inspired by last days. Mastered by Russell Haswell. Edition of 500.
This ship in trouble was first performed live at the EEI festival 2006 in Labin, Croatia. It was reworked into single tracks during fall, winter 2006-2007. The music was originally composed on Unije island, using a single guitar chord from the piece with the same name by the band And Also The Trees. The six pieces carry names of ships that have sunk - six musical narrations of the imaginary fate of these ships now lying wrecked on the bed of the Adriatic Sea. Marcus Maeder realized his first musical projects mid of the nineties, when the term "digital culture" was just beginning to gain usage. The setting was the Kombirama, an artists collective and project space in Zurich. It was during this period that he and Bernd Schurer founded the domizil music label. domizil is a platform for recorded music, an occasional concert venue, a loosely connected group of artists, and, as a label, an interface and instrument for reaching the public. The focus of Marcus Maeders work is on computer music and sound art, which he regularly tries to integrate into broader contexts, creating networks and building bridges, either in connection with theatre projects and installations or in his capacity as author and curator.

Synapses (Jean-Luc Guionnet et Eric Cordier) is an instrumental device of combined string instruments (acoustic and electric guitars, detuned piano, spinett-vina, hurdy-gurdy and cello), percussion instruments and metal resonnators --all interconnected with double-bass-, cello- and guitar strings. When one string is played the resulting sound or movement is transfered by the connected strings to the next resonator. Thus one action causes several sound events. In fact, it’s impossible to touch one element of the system without getting response of the whole device. Synapses is an hanging sensible network...
Billy Gomberg (b 1979, Chicago) is a musician and video artist living in Brooklyn, New York. His studio practice incorporates analog synthesis, digital treatments, acoustic recordings and custom programming that gives rise to electronic sound caught gazing at its own physicality, acoustics in love with their own abstraction. Billy’s debut CD release displays abstract and complex dimensions of texture and tone that might make more sense at first on a subconscious level before it will on a conscious one. Therefore, it is advised to first approach this music from a pure listening standpoint, free from preconceived notions of musical structure and form since it can defy such prosaic logic. "These tracks are the start of my working toward a more immediate sound-improvisation w-software, real-time construction of the sound material and structure, taking priority. While some material comes from software in real-time, all other sound was generated by Roland Juno synthesizers, plus a few tracks incorporate my voice. Post-production editing and treatment were mostly employed to find the clearest expression of my improvisations and shape them into more conventional “tracks” or “songs”.”
Ivan Palacky - dictaphones, MD, amplified knitting machine Dopleta 160. Filip Cenek aka VJ Vera Lukasova - real-time image manipulation in interaction with sound.
“Combining live audio "micro-improvisations" (refined by musician Ivan Palacky) with live video manipulations (by video and VJ-artist Filip Cenek aka VJ Vera Lukasova), Carpets Curtains express an engaging and nuanced interplay of audio and visual material. With live visuals being mostly based on self-made video sequences in which emphasis is placed on ambiguous "narration" whilst VJ software-mistakes are used to reach new amoebic image qualities, the result is a principle or method of remaining fixed to moving images while vacating the essential aspects for building concrete meaning. Such visual approaches find parallel in Palacky’s delicate musicalities, in which found objects and minimal electronics are fused to create elegantly small sound mixtures.
Ivan Palacky has (in the 80s and the beginning of the 90s) played with various groups and taken part in several music projects. He was a member of the guitar/doublebass/bassoon group "Slede, zive slede" (Herring, live herring) - and currently performs in a duo called "Tilko" (Singlet) and audiovisual project Koberce, zaclony (Carpets, Curtains). He "writes" a sound diary from all his journeys - collects excerpts of stories, weird sounds and various "acoustic mistakes". He likes to take part in one-shot improvisational groups or duos (with Cremaster, Ruth Barberán and Margarida Garcia, Will Guthrie, Andrea Neumann...) as well as playing solo performances. Since 2005 his main interest has been to "dig out" sounds from an amplified Dopleta 160 knitting machine from the 70s.
Filip Cenek (born 1976 in Jesenik, Czech Rep.) is educated projectionist, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts Brno, Video Studio (Keiko Sei), where he currently teaches. From 2004 he has been a postgraduate student at the FAMU Centre of Audiovisual Studies in Prague. He is the co-author (predominantly with Jiri Havlicek) of several short films and animations presented at various fine art exhibitions and experimental film festivals (Centre Pompidou, Paris. L’immagine leggera, Palermo. EMAF, Osnabruck. Wardrobe, Leeds. Parker`s Box, New York. MNAC, Bucurest. Among others). He is represented in the National Gallery Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art in Prague. He was awarded the Developmental Grant of Tranzit for his work in the field of visual media last year, which allowed him to realize "Carpets Curtains" DVD-Video disk, documenting his cooperation with musician Ivan Palacky.”

“Nothing is holy! With his fourth solo-release, Reto Mäder aka RM74 takes us on a fevery missionary journey which is driven by an unholy quest for saturation and leads us into the dark places where tortured souls dwell. Unpredictably muckraking in the shoals of timeless abysses, RM74 seeks to kindle the supressed fires of passion. Nothing less!
To do justice to this mission, Mäder interweaves acoustic instruments such as an organ, a piano, a bassguitar or a harp with analogue and digital treatments into 8 firey and frivolous revelations. The symbiotical relation on “Fireproof In 8 Parts” is clearly in favour of the beatified instruments, which are re-discovered as liberating tools: “The dusty organ winds itself ecstatically in purgatory. The rickety piano holds confused and atonal soliloquies. The detuned strings of the bassguitar gleefully dance to the song of wantonness, and the harp calls for the exorcism of charaded awe!” “Fireproof In 8 Parts” also contains a bonus-CDr titled “Part 9: LoFire”. This goodie offers additional insight into the works of RM74, concentrating on his LoFi-inspired Songwriter drafts.
