Nearly 15 years after the edition “Maison.House II-V” CD – in duet with his electroacoustic friend Eric La Casa – Vert Pituite La Belle is pleased to collaborate once again with Jean-Luc Guionnet, this time alone and at the organ.
For Arantzazu Close & Far, the vinyl medium makes perfect sense: two sides, two versions of the same sound event, the recording of the same improvisation on the organ of the basilica of the monastery of Arantzazu in the Spanish Basque country, realized during a residency of a few days in this high-place of the history of the region at the invitation of the collective AudioLab.
On the first side, we hear the sound recording made by a pair of microphones arranged closer to the organ while the second we hear the same improvisation but from the bottom of the monastery.
Jean-Luc Guionnet aborde l’orgue et ses tuyaux comme une pure matière électroacoustique qu’il sculpte et façonne dans des dynamiques et des fréquences audacieuses. On quitte l’évidence du drone trop attaché à cet instrument et on fait une réelle expérience d’écoute avec deux version sde la même improvisation.
Note du label : Près de 15 ans après l’édition du CD « Maison.House II-V » (en duo avec son camarade électroacousticien Eric La Casa), Vert Pituite La Belle a le plaisir de collaborer une nouvelle fois avec le grand musicien Jean-Luc Guionnet, cette fois seul et à l’orgue.
Pour Arantzazu Close & Far, le support vinyl prend tout son sens : deux faces, deux versions d’un même événement sonore, l’enregistrement d’une même improvisation sur l’orgue de la basilique du monastère d’Arantzazu au pays basque espagnol, réalisé lors d’une résidence de quelques jours en ce haut-lieu de l’histoire de la région à l’invitation du collectif AudioLab.
Sur la première face, nous entendons la prise effectuée par une paire de micros disposés au plus près de l’orgue tandis que la seconde nous fait entendre cette même improvisation mais du fond du monastère. Où comment faire entendre par son impact l’espace singulier dans lequel la musique se joue.
