Anne-James CHATON & Andy MOOR
“Tout ce que je sais”

The duo Anne-James Chaton and Andy Moor has produced original works where poetry and guitar combine in explorations of thematic axes. With the project ‘Heretics’, of which Tout Ce Que Je Sais (All I know) is the second part, they revive the most obscure, violent, erotic passions, summoning the great figures of their personal mythologies. In the company of Caravaggio, Marquis de Sade, William Burroughs and figures such as Jose Mujica, the duo immerses the listener in another world history peopled by radical thinkers. 'Heretics' pays homage to those heroes who used transgression and excess as a necessary means for the advance of humanity. In this new album, recorded live at the Carreau du Temple in Paris on the occasion of Périphérie du 35e Marché de la Poésie (2017), Anne-James Chaton and Andy Moor deliver a radical work at the confines of literary and musical creation.

Anne-James CHATON + Andy MOOR + Thurston MOORE
“Heretics”

‘Heretics’ is a series of portraits of radical heretical figures found throughout the history of schismatic thinking. Heretics like Caravaggio, William Burroughs, Jose Mujica, Marquis de Sade and Johnny Rotten, fascinated the artists. These influential figures are presented here in the form of poetic texts and catchy melodies combined with experimental noise. With the addition of ex-Sonic Youth guitarist, singer and songwriter Thurston Moore – Anne-James Chaton and Andy Moor’s more than a decade long collaboration becomes an exciting trio. They researched and created the material for Heretics during a residency in the French port of St Nazaire, in July 2014. They used voice, guitars and electronics in solo, duo or trio, to collaboratively explore their ideas and co-write texts and music. Moore and Moor both emerged from the punk/post-punk scene – albeit on different continents. This familiarity with each other’s background and music meant they were able to work at an intuitive fast pace during the making of these pieces, and subsequent recordings. Chaton’s powerful delivery and hypnotic style holds it’s own amidst the two guitarists building a rich wall of sound, melody and noise around him. Chaton and Moore’s contrasting voices and choice of words ring out in the tradition of non-conformist poetry. Shaped by jagged distorted guitars and penetrating chords, the trio’s combination of guitar and poetry evokes a new genre. ‘Heretics’ was recorded at La Muse en Circuit (Paris), and first performed live at the Theatre de Saint Nazaire, in 2015. The making of Heretics is documented in a film made by Benoît Bourreau. This release, containing a CD, book of texts, and DVD - is designed by Isabelle Vigier. There is also a signed edition of ‘Heretics’, including original prints by the three authors. This release was made possible with support from lebeau et associes (Paris) Herezie (Paris) Mona Films (Paris) la Muse en Circuit (Paris) .

TROPHIES
“A Family of Three (Band Photo)”

Alessandro Bosetti, lyrics, voice. Kenta Nagai, fret-less electric guitar. Tony Buck, drums. “A Family of Three (Band Photo)” is the fruit of urgency and sediment – a vibrant story bringing together sounds, images and texts that have emerged over time in Alessandro Bosetti’s imagination, in his life experience and through live concerts. Tangents, ideas and themes revolve around cautiousness, desire, Italy, ways of doing, uncertainty and longing. Without definite focus on one subject, these all feel like universal aspects of humanity falling into the vortex that is the whole of this Gesamtkunstwerk. This new LP by Trophies projects a free flowing vision of urbanized living; lives lived speeded up and slowed down in unequal measures, where one grasps at straws of control and holds on what is dear. The Bosetti-Nagai-Buck trio continuously aims to keep the threefold dialog open and inviting, breaking the repetition of loops - speaking, instead: volumes in shared exchanges. Like a constant flux questioning of the bonds of habitual versus the pull of the unfamiliar: like a chance meeting on the dissecting table of the everyday street, with open ears and eyes. Differently from other records by the band (consisting of Alessandro Bosetti on voice and electronics, fret-less electric guitar player Kenta Nagai and Tony Buck on drums) Family of Three was not recorded in one shot or just a few studio days. The recording came together as a constructed object over almost three years of separate recordings and montages. Family of Three (Band Photo) is also the latest volume in the Stories series on Unsounds. On the label’s invitation, Michela di Savino shot portrait photographs of random trios – common people and colorful backgrounds, three individuals who do or do not know each other. Snap shot portraits of teams of three; families, bands, co-workers, fellow travelers? Her pictures explore and explode the tripartite identity of the trio by operation of more (or less) chance, aiming to explode the ‘family of three’ (the band) into a larger community. The images feed back on the music on record; the sounds informs the photographs – oscillating in an interactive narrative moving between juxtaposed poetics and aural-visual collage, furthermore enhanced by the lyrics and Bosetti’s prose.

““Folia” is the third CD collaboration of Andy Moor (guitar) and Yannis Kyriakides (computer) created in 2009 and performed in numerous festivals and concerts that year. It is an epic reworking of the famous tune from the 16th and 17th centuries called “La Folia”. Fusing influences from this and South American folk music, they create a unique sound world of slowly evolving soundscapes, fluctuating beats, and rich oscillating harmonies.” label info

Brunhild FERRARI – Eiko ISHIBASHI – Jim O’ROURKE
“L’Oreille Voleuse”

Persistence of Sound releases a new work by Brunhild Ferrari called »L’oreille Voleuse« (The Thieving Ear). The LP features an extraordinary live reinterpretation by Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O’Rourke, recorded in October 2025 in Paris. “No, without listening at doors, the ear captures noises here and there and unexpected sounds without choice, but remains attentive to the messages of each one picked up over the years. It gathers surprises and impressions, bringing them together in a simple mix. In waking up these ear memories again, which were mostly recorded on magnetic tapes, I am very happy about the collaboration of Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O'Rourke in playing on this mix tape.” Brunhild Ferrari

FRANCE
“Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts”

Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts captures the band in full flight during their very first English tour, recorded at The state51 Factory in East London. Until this tour, UK audiences had only witnessed France once before, at Liverpool Psych Fest some years back. This album documents what they've been missing. For this performance, the lineup featured Jérémie Sauvage on bass, Yann Gourdon on electrified hurdy-gurdy, and Cyril Bondi (La Tène, Cyril Cyril) stepping in on drums while longtime member Mathieu Tilly took a well-earned break.

Thomas TILLY
“Birds measuring space”

As a counterpoint to discourses about sound in nature, french sound artist Thomas Tilly continues his research on the use of noise by non humans. Following the noise walls of Codex Amphibia, Birds measuring space focuses on the strange rituals operating by the mysterious Guacharos de Cuevas, and its interpretation by humans and technology. Thomas Tilly (FR) is a sound artist and composer of experimental music. His work is based on field experiments using microphones, loudspeakers, and acoustic analysis instruments. Developing a unique approach to phonography, influenced by biology, anthropology, and sound measurement, his creations, broadcasts, and installations open up a field of listening that extends beyond the naturalist paradigm.
