“Well talk about your long gestations for a project. Secluded in Jersey City, by Secluded Bronte was recorded live on WFMU in November of 2002. And we spoke about releasing this on Pogus pretty quickly after that. So to take twelve years to release a CD is a pretty long time. But it was most certainly worth the wait.
This trio features Jonathan and Adam Bohman with the added experimental irreverence of Richard Thomas. The Bohman Brothers are known for their unique live performances mixing theatre, speech and sounds made from a Heath-Robinson-style array of found objects connected to microphones and laptops.”
“It's hard to describe the raw, explosive audio art they perpetrate. Everyday objects and sounds are worked on until they become saturated with lurid suggestion, resulting in a bizarre, hysterical immediacy … in the traditions of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, the Bohman Brothers kitchen-sink realism laughs at the grand claims of lofty art. They will show you fear in a sponge from a drainer.” (Ben Watson in The Wire).

“Korm Plastics is proud to present the thirteenth release in the Brombron series. Originally a co-production between Staalplaat and Extrapool, it is now hosted by co-curator Frans de Waard. In the year 2000 Frans de Waard and Extrapool started the Brombron project. Two or more musicians become artists in residence in Extrapool, an arts initiative in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, with a fully equipped sound recording studio. These artists can work in a certain amount of time on a collaborative project; a project they always wished to do, but didn’t have the time or the equipment to realize. Jon Mueller and Martijn Tellinga have started a collaboration to explore the musical dialogue between the instrumentalist and realtime computer-performer. Their mutual interest in the outlining and structuring of improvisation, both in sonic properties and compositional shape, resulted in an ensembled playing that is partly responsive, partly autonomous. During their residency at the Extrapool studio in Nijmegen, Netherlands december 2005. During this residency they experimented with a system that consisted of live-sampling and processing of Jon’s playing, on top of a layer of pre-recorded soundmaterials taken from a previous session. Crucial to this system, was that the actual triggering of the samples and processing in the computer during performance was also caused by that same playing; i.e., while Jon was improvising he not only provided new sonic material for recording, but also triggered previously recorded events. The realtime manipulation and transformation of these events was done by Martijn following that same structural order. This experimental system was developed to get to a musical body that can either blend into one (percussion and computer) or exist as two entities that function in an autonomous way (bypassing the triggering and playing the computer as a stand-alone instrument, using the same set of soundmaterials) and perform by listening and responding to each others input. This can be seen as an attempt to get beyond the many electro-instrumental collaborations where the computer-performer seems to function as a huge effect-processor of the instrumental input, and by doing that, reduces the instrumentalist to a soundsource for realtime processing.”
This ship in trouble was first performed live at the EEI festival 2006 in Labin, Croatia. It was reworked into single tracks during fall, winter 2006-2007. The music was originally composed on Unije island, using a single guitar chord from the piece with the same name by the band And Also The Trees. The six pieces carry names of ships that have sunk - six musical narrations of the imaginary fate of these ships now lying wrecked on the bed of the Adriatic Sea. Marcus Maeder realized his first musical projects mid of the nineties, when the term "digital culture" was just beginning to gain usage. The setting was the Kombirama, an artists collective and project space in Zurich. It was during this period that he and Bernd Schurer founded the domizil music label. domizil is a platform for recorded music, an occasional concert venue, a loosely connected group of artists, and, as a label, an interface and instrument for reaching the public. The focus of Marcus Maeders work is on computer music and sound art, which he regularly tries to integrate into broader contexts, creating networks and building bridges, either in connection with theatre projects and installations or in his capacity as author and curator.
“Pour un pianiste” (1973-1974). Piano and prepared piano : Gérard Frémy. Electroacoustic music edited and mixed in the composer‘s studio (Paris) and GMEB studios (Bourges). Sound recording : GRM studio, ORTF. Sound engineer : N’Guyen Van Tuong. First performance :May 28th,1974, Bourges, Maison de la Culture,4th International Festival of Experimental Music. Mastering 2005 :Lionel Risler. Thanks to Roger Cochini.
“This work was commissioned by Gérard Frémy. I wrote the different themes, the patterns and rythmic cells first. Gérard Frémy played them on piano as well as on prepared piano. These recordings gave me the necessary material to create the magnetic tape. All the sounds are issued from the piano with the exception of the opening clavicord clusters. I wrote another version of this work that is for concerts only. In this instance a piano partition is played live along with the magnetic tape. Pour un Pianiste is dedicated to Gérard Frémy.”
The Kalahari desert is a vast and open space where most of the wildlife is nocturnal. After sunset the dunes, grasses and thorn bushes are patrolled by an emerging alien empire - the insects. Midnight at the Oasis’ presents an unseen soundscape from this beautiful and hostile environment.
“The very old catfish, covered in moss, that live in the depths of the lake, never go up towards daylight and disdain any bait that nature offers them. They are only attracted by the oddest shapes that fishermen can invent, shiny and silvery blades in the shape of a human hand that, attached to their line, dance a jig; or also a bat made of red glass with hooks treacherously sewn inside their wings”. G.Meyrink. Instruments: mechanical metronome with bell, harmonica reeds, six string banjo, amps, microphones, feet tapping, hand clapping, six string ukulele, tuning forks, timer, mouth organ, Harmonicas, concertina, dry poppy pods,whistlings,... The solitary project of Thomas Bonvalet initially focused on the nylon string guitar, taking short, dynamic and abrupt forms and limiting itself exclusively to the acoustic possibilities of the instrument. A radical posture, it constantly threatened to put itself at an impasse, seeing itself forced into metamorphosis and movement. The instrument thus became less and less identifiable. At the periphery it absorbed the sound of objects (metronome, tuning forks...) deviating from their common usage, integrating the breath and the sounds rising from the instrumental gesture, splitting up to reveal a new fleeting form. Amplification has also progressively taken an essential part in this new instrumentarium/organism. However, there remains this same subterranean voice, the consideration of detail and tension, the seeking of possible points of sudden revelation. “Serpentement” is the fourth recording of "l’ocelle mare" and was recorded by Adrian Riffo, in the Protestant temple of Bergerac (France), in november 2011. Thomas Bonvalet, (born October, 1977) lives in Alpedrete, Spain. Guitar player of the band Cheval de frise between 1998 and 2004, he made is first solo show under the name of l’ocelle mare in September 2005. He toured Europe, Scandinavia, Israel, USA and China.

“Stian Skagen (b.1980) aka [concept.virus] is one of the leading Scandinavian sound artists and has toured and recorded with acts such as Årabrot, Ryfylke and Nernes/Skagen, his work has been exhibited and performed several places around the world. The music presented on this release was made for the sound installation The Inward Rising by Skagen and fellow artist Monica Winther. The installation was presented at the Henie Onstad Art Centre from the 20th of November until 14th of December 2008. The Inward Rising is according to Skagen the result from a one-year research in paint pigments reflective and absorbing light qualities. LED light was programmed to change the colors reflecting from the painting. Various patterns and color combinations build up a large painting that in constant change as the lights are changing. The object was the source for a sound and video composition. The music on this record is standing in a minimalistic electro-accoustic tradition, inspired by composers such as Morton Subotnick, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis. The sound is digital and abstract, but contains clearly recognizable objects and structures which interacts with one another and makes up an organic whole. The critic Bjørn Hatterud wrote in a review on the piece in kunstkritikk.no that Skagen and Winther …“has created some of the most powerful I’ve experienced in an art museum ever… The sound is murky and dark. I hear trees falling, the roar of waterfalls, creepy creatures, or the roaring emptiness of space…” Prisma Records is proud to present this powerful, dynamic and extreme, yet delicately intricate composition for the first time.”

This work is singular, vivid and direct, the 3 parts are glued together as a sound jewel. Following his tribute to Joseph Carey Merrick, composed and played at Epoxy 5 by Alexandre St-Onge in Montreal, May 2007, this not to be missed cd builds a relationship in between two monsters with deep feelings : the author and the man whom filmaker David Lynch immortalized in his movie The Elephant Man.”
