A new interpretation of the explosive frog breeding phenomenon.
Recorded, composed and mixed between 2016 and 2020 in French Guiana and France by Thomas Tilly, this pieces are part of a both scientific and artistic collaborative project conducted with herpetologist Antoine Fouquet, research associate at French National Center for Scienctific Research Cnrs. These compositions follow Codex amphibia (an interpretation of the explosive breeding), released in 2018 on Glistening Examples.
Thomas Tilly is a musician using the microphone and speaker as the main instruments of creation.
Codex Amphibia (Phonotaxis) est un projet artistique et scientifique réalisé par Thomas Tilly, artiste sonore, et Antoine Fouquet, herpétologue (CR CNRS). Centré sur l’étude des reproductions explosives des amphibiens en Guyane (rassemblements pouvant regrouper plusieurs centaines de milliers d’individus et générant un mur de son avoisinant les 100 décibels), il combine un projet de recherche et une série de pièces sonores basées sur les enregistrements de ce même phénomène. Ces compositions et écrits font suite à Codex Amphibia (an interpretation of the explosive breeding phenomenon), paru en 2018 sur Glistening Examples.
