With The Days Pass Quickly Immersed in the Shadow of Eternity, Lea Bertucci brings some of humanity’s oldest flutes into dialogue with contemporary electroacoustic composition. Commissioned by ZKM and created in collaboration with flutist Norbert Rodenkirchen, the work draws on his collection of Renaissance, Medieval and Neolithic instruments, conjuring sounds that have largely disappeared from the modern world.
Combining acoustic resonance, electronic processing and meticulously layered harmonies, Bertucci creates an imaginary space where different eras and environments overlap and dissolve. Ancient instruments evoke everything from Medieval halls to the reverberant caves of prehistory, while advanced technology subtly reshapes their presence without obscuring their distinctive voices. Moving between pulsing clusters and dense layers of sustained tones, the piece draws on a deep, archetypal memory of sound. By bringing together some of humanity’s earliest musical technologies with the tools of the present, Bertucci creates a haunting meditation on listening, time and the continuity of human experience.© Corticalart 2026 • Terms Of Use • Legal Notice • Privacy Policy
