“With Alain Gibert, Patrick Charbonnier, Etienne Roche, Olivier Bost on trombones, Boris Jollivet on recordings, Lionel Marchetti on musique concrète. In 2009, equipped with our trombones and mics, we walked around in several natural sound places in the mountains of Haut-Jura. As the seasons went by, we searched or provoked some unexpected recording situations that lead to invention, and we went on improvising, according to the geological echoes, the animal roars and human activities, as well as the climatic circumstances. Both CDs “Ô saisons, o trombones” tell about the odyssey of these unique moments. These recordings haven’t been treated, neither mixed nor mastered. Every sound effect is thanks to the performing and recording situation. In order to get the point of view of another listener, we commissioned the concrete music composer Lionel Marchetti, to make the most of the recorded sounds. He has proposed “Quatre études d’espace”, taking as a model the real effect in the original recordings. You can find the “Quatre études d’espace” in the 3rd CD of the set. In the end, echoing to these music, the author Joel Bastard has written a poetical suite, “De l’air en plus”, to take part in our journey. Instead of simple witness report, we offer you a reflection in facets of that one year of recordings “in situ”.” label info
