“Portrait d’Irène Zack” by Yann Paranthoën. “Portrait sans visage” by Christian Zanési. “Initially, Yann Paranthoën, disappeared in 2005, had the idea to produce a short play “Portrait of Irene Zack” radio portrait of a sculptor at work. This piece is part of a larger work that addresses the possible loss of touch in artistic creation. He works as usual with his Nagra slung his pole in hand to record the sounds but also with tape recorders for editing and mixing. Anxious to show what could be compared to the sound of a musician, he asks Christian Zanési, a composer friend who works at the GRM to produce a short work too from the sounds he recorded. Zanési will work with the computer that will allow mounting the mix but also all the transformations of matter sound.” Notes from the label (in a very bad translation !).
“Portrait d’Irène Zack” (première diffusion : 2003) de Yann Paranthoën. “Portrait sans visage” de Christian Zanési. “Au départ, Yann Paranthoën, disparu en 2005, eut l’idée de produire, en 1999, une courte pièce “Portrait d’Irène Zack” portrait radiophonique d’un sculpteur au travail. Cette pièce faisant partie d’un travail plus vaste, dont le titre “Jeux de mains” évoquait la possible disparition du toucher dans les métiers d’art. Il enregistra, comme à son habitude, Nagra en bandoulière et perche à la main. En studio, il monta et mixa ses sons avec son savoir faire en “greffant” les sons mono dans la stéréophonie à l’aide de quatre magnétophones à bandes. Soucieux de montrer quelle pouvait être une autre relation au son, il proposa, par générosité et esprit d’expérimentation, à Christian Zanési, un ami compositeur membre du G.R.M. (Groupe de Recherche Musicale) de produire lui aussi une œuvre courte à partir des sons qu’il avait enregistrés. Zanési, lui travailla avec l’ordinateur, qui lui permit, en plus des procédures de montage, les transformations de la matière sonore elle-même.” Herbé Birolini
