“There are the most incredible encounters. Behind the one I had with the two guitarists of Sonic Youth lies the amazingly sharp eyes of a journalist, or more accurately a musical historian of our times, who recognised the spine of an album on which I appear, from a photo in a magazine. of an interview w Thurston Moore. Thurston is sitting in front of part of his immense record collection. This was enough to prompt a meeting prior to the group taking the stage in Marseille and opened the door to a collaboration, sporadic but ongoing since 1997. The duet with Thurston was recorded in NY, in January 1997 at SY’s studios and the one with Lee at the Grim studios, the musical stage of Montevideo, in May 2010. Coming after the release of “MMMR” on Numero Zero Audio / Xeric, and of “A Possible Dawn” on Hat Noir with Loren Mazzacane Connors, where the two guitarists played together for the first time in a project other than SY since the formation of the group, the release of these two duets on a young French label confirms, as if there was any need, the interest that these two musicians inspire on the old continent.” Jean-Marc Montera

“Il est des rencontres surprenantes. À l’origine de celle que j’ai eu avec les deux guitaristes de Sonic Youth il y a l’acuité visuelle d’un journaliste, ou plutôt d’un historien des musiques de notre temps, qui a décelé sur une photo de la discothèque de Thurston Moore un disque sur lequel j’apparaissais Cela suffit à provoquer à Marseille un rendez-vous avant un concert du groupe et ouvrir ainsi la porte à une collaboration sporadique qui dure depuis 1997. Le duo avec Thurston a été enregistré à NY dans les studios de Sonic Youth en janvier 1997 et celui avec Lee en mai 2010 dans ceux du GRIM, scène musicale de montévidéo. Après les parutions de “MMMR” et de “A possible dawn”, avec Loren Mazzacane Connors, où étaient réunis pour la première fois les deux guitaristes sur un projet autre que Sonic Youth, ce double duo sorti sur ce jeune label français, confirme, si besoin était, l’intérêt que ces musiciens suscitent sur le vieux continent.” Jean-Marc Montera
