[…] Foremost in my mind was the idea of being able to manipulate some compositions for flute, that were not original or were “extremely free ” in their conception, personalizing them to the extreme with the use of multitrace or electronics. Only a work conceived in this way has led me to reflect on this music from its inside, introjecting the point of observation in order to discover a new projection of the sound. Manuel Zurria (flûtes, électroniques). Flûtiste virtuose passionné par la répétition, Manuel Zurria au cours de sa brillante carrière s’est trouvé ravi de collaborer avec Luc Ferrari, Alvin Lucier, Arvo Part, John Cage, Morton Feldman, László Sáry, Louis Andriessen, Aldo Clementi, Zoltan Jeney, Tom Johnson… Ici un 2 CD hommage à divers artistes et compositeurs (liste et titres ci-dessous) dont le travail a substantiellement influencé Zurria ; plutôt que des interprétations, nous avons ici des personnalisations, en gros une appropriation de pièces fondatrices. Bref, un drôle de feedback.
CD1 : Giancinto Scelsi : “Casadiscelsi”- Maknongan (1976) pour flûte basse ; Pwyll (1954) pour flûte et sons enregistrés à Rome dans la maison de Scelsi. Pauline Oliveiros : “Portrait” (1993) version pour flûtes, voix et electronics. Alvin Lucier : “Almost New York” (2003) pour cinq flûtes et onde pure d’oscillateur. Alvin Curran : “Madonna and child” (1968-2009) pour piccolo, ordinateur, loops station et electronics. John Duncan : “The carnival” (2009) pour piccolo, ordinateur, loop stations, electronics – John Duncan (ordinateur).

Rétrospectif sans passéisme, subtil, cohérent et soigné dans sa réalisation. Excellent donc recommandé !
