After completing a BA in History (1988) at the University of Calgary, a Diploma in Composition (1996) at Grant MacEwan College (Edmonton) and a MMus in Composition (2000) at the University of Calgary, David Berezan moved to the UK and completed a PhD in Electroacoustic Composition (2003) at the University of Birmingham (UK). In 2012 he was appointed Professor in Electroacoustic Music Composition at The University of Manchester (UK), where he has acted, since 2003, as Director of the Electroacoustic Music Studios and MANTIS (Manchester Theatre in Sound).
Since 2000 he has primarily composed acousmatic music, though he has also composed and performed solo and ensemble live-electronics works. He is a practitioner and proponent of sound diffusion performance and the interpretation of fixed-media work.

David Berezan a d’abord obtenu un baccalauréat en histoire (1988) de la University of Calgary, un diplôme en composition (1996) du Grant MacEwan College (Edmonton) et une maîtrise en composition musicale (2000) de la University of Calgary, avant de déménager au Royaume-Uni pour obtenir un doctorat en composition électroacoustique (2003) à la University of Birmingham (RU). En 2012 il devient professeur de composition électroacoustique à The University of Manchester (RU) où il était, depuis 2003, directeur de ses studios de musique électroacoustique et de MANTIS (Manchester Theatre in Sound). Depuis 2000 il se consacre principalement à la composition de musique acousmatique quoiqu’il ait composé et interprété des œuvres électroacoustique en direct solo et en ensemble. Il pratique et soutient le concert spatialisé et l’interprétation d’œuvres pour support.
