“end of an era” was produced over a period of 23 years. It began with a few short recordings of lightly processed sine waves that came to me via Asmus Tietchens and Achim Wollscheid. The work on these resulted in a first version and release of “time is the simplest thing” (Three Poplars 2003) which I was never fully satisfied with, so I continued working on it further until a definitive version was completed in 2018.
I began work on “time and again … and again” in 2013 when experimenting with analog electronics. Again I made a first version that I was not entirely happy with and picked up again and completed it in 2022 with the help of Ronnie Oliveras who engineered parts of the remix. The titles for the pieces are related to American writer Clifford Simak whose novels and short stories have been a source of inspiration since adolescent days.

“end of an era” a été produit sur une période de 23 ans. La pièce a commencé par quelques courts enregistrements d’ondes sinusoïdales légèrement traitées qui m’ont été transmis par Asmus Tietchens et Achim Wollscheid. Le travail sur ces enregistrements a donné lieu à une première version et à la sortie de “time is the simplest thing” (Three Poplars 2003) dont je n’ai jamais été pleinement satisfait, et j’ai donc continué à travailler dessus jusqu’à ce qu’une version définitive soit achevée en 2018.
J’ai commencé à travailler sur “time and again … and again” en 2013 lorsque j’expérimentais l’électronique analogique. Là encore, j’ai fait une première version dont je n’étais pas entièrement satisfait, puis j’ai repris et l’ai achevée en 2022 avec l’aide de Ronnie Oliveras qui a fait l’ingénierie de certaines parties du remix. Les titres des morceaux sont liés à l’écrivain américain Clifford Simak dont les romans et les nouvelles ont été une source d’inspiration depuis l’adolescence.
