RLW ( aka Ralf Wehowsky ) whose work deals in the transformation of prerecorded sound material, the permutation of the senses and the metamorphosis of the sensitive, has been a proponent of long distance collaborations for decades, long before lockdown made this manner of working popular. This goes way back to his beginnings with Permutative Distortion or P16.D4 and the Selektion label. He is a strict and disciplined composer, a formal organizer of discernible objects.
Tunnel presents five pieces built using fragments of Annette Krebs’s voice. Far from being anecdotal, the work reveals a true alchemy. Vocal prints are converted into roaring metallic textures lost in an endless sonic vortex, both sculptural and masterful.
Adepte de la collaboration à distance, de la transformation de matériaux pré-enregistrés, de la permutation des sens, et de la métamorphose du sensible, RLW (alias Ralf Wehowsky) n’a pas attendu le confinement pour adapter cette méthode de travail, il la pratique depuis plusieurs décennies. On peut remonter jusqu’à ses débuts avec Permutative Distortion ou P16.D4 et le label Selektion. C’est un compositeur strict et discipliné, un organisateur formel d’objets discernables.
Dans Tunnel, il a construit cinq pièces avec des fragments de la voix d’Annette Krebs. Loin de toute dimension anecdotique, on est plongé dans une véritable alchimie où des empreintes vocales sont converties dans des textures métalliques et vrombissantes, perdues dans l’infini d’un vortex sonore, sculptural et magistral.
