A compilation of gongs of ethnic minorities in Ratanakiri and Mondolkiri provinces of Cambodia and in Champasak and Attapeu provinces of Laos, recorded between 2003 and 2007, released for the first time on a double vinyl, mastered by Rashad Becker at dubplates Berlin. Georges Condominas had released end of the 50s on the french label Ocora a vinyl containing recordings of gong ceremonies “musiques Mnong gar du Vietnam”, in between so much has happened and more than 50 years later it’s time for the world to discover those fantastic minimalist metallic beats, the true music of animist ceremonies of this part of south east Asia. Kink Gong & Tiger Gong are proud to reveal the exciting and rare music of gong orchestras.
Projet de Laurent Jeanneau qui témoigne de la richesse musicale de minorités ethniques. Principalement axé sur la Chine où il réside, il nous livre ici un double vinyl enregistré entre 2003 et 2007 au Cambodge (provinces de Ratanakiri et Mondolkiri) et au Laos (provinces de Champasak et Attapeu) centré autour du gong. Musiques de fête, de mariages, de funérailles, de guérison ou autres cérémonies animistes. Un fantastique battement minimal et métallique. Fortement recommandé !
