“Gravity Wave, a new CD label, curated by composer Michael Pisaro, designed by Yuko Zama. Icefall (2), a 72-minute piece for 64 separate tracks of rice falling on objects. This recording is the second part of a trilogy of the first disc length works by Stuart and Pisaro (an unrhymed chord is the first part, and A wave and waves is the third). The dynamic range of the recording is extremely wide. In the second of the four sections, there is a storm of falling rice that is certainly the loudest music the duo have made; the final section is an unbroken 16 minutes of lightly falling, slightly pitched sounds. Gravity Wave est un nouveau label dirigé par le compositeur Michael Pisaro, avec la bénédiction de Jon Abbey d’Erstwhile et le design de couverture format 13 x 18cm signé Yuko Zama. Pour commencer Michael Pisaro himself, accompagné de son fidèle interprète et percussionniste Greg Stuart. La partition se limite à des chiffres et quelques mots et précise également les objets sur lesquels doivent tomber des grains de riz. Car il s’agit de cela : une chute de grains de riz organisée pendant 72 minutes. Il est évident qu’on est très vite ailleurs, plongés dans une pluie tropicale ou un troupeau de vaches savoyardes, c’est selon. Grandiose !
