“Hotel Monterey is Minizza’s second album, following Music for girls (2005) and collaborations with various artists like Erlend Oye (The Kings of Convenience), Edward Ka-Spel (The Legendary Pink Dots) and Erik Arnaud. But Minizza has been active during these last six years. Hotel Monterey, inspired by Chantal Akerman’s movie, was commissioned by the festival Electroni[k] (Saint-Brieuc, France), recorded on Radio France studios in May 2009, then reworked, remixed and mastered at Minizza studio. For the realization of this project, Rainier Lericolais and David Sanson (That Summer) joined the original band members Franck Marguin and Geoffroy Montel. Hotel Monterey is a one hour long, dark, ambient instrumental piece, close to experimental music from the 90s (such as first Jim O’Rourke records, Christoph Heemann or Coil).”
“Après Music for Girls, premier album paru en 2005, des collaborations avec Erlend Oye (The Kings Of Convenience), Edward Ka-Spel (The Legendary Pink Dots) ou Erik Arnaud, Minizza publie aujourd’hui un second album. Durant ces six années, le groupe ne s’est pourtant pas arrêté de composer, multipliant les projets. Hotel Monterey, inspiré par le film de Chantal Akerman du même nom, commande pour le festival Electroni[k] de Saint-Brieuc, fut enregistrée dans les studios de Radio France en mai 2009, puis retravaillée, remixée et remasterisée au Minizza Studio. Pour la réalisation de cette œuvre, Minizza s’est transformé en quatuor, accueillant aux côtés de Franck Marguin et Geoffroy Montel, Rainier Lericolais et David Sanson (du groupe That Summer). Hotel Monterey est une longue plage d’une heure, instrumentale, sombre et ambient, proche de la musique expérimentale des années 90 (les premiers Jim O’Rourke, Christoph Heemann, Coil).”
